Palm Fruit Stripper

The palm fruit stripper is also known as a thresher or threshing machine. The stripper is widely used in small and large palm oil extraction mills. The purpose of threshing is to separate the palm fruits from the fruit bunch.

Stripping

Stripping or threshing involves separating palm fruits from the bunch stalks. Fresh fruit bunches are fed into a drum stripper and the drum is rotated, causing the fruits to be detached from the bunch. The bunch stalks are removed as they do not contain any oil.

The stalks are often disposed of by incineration, giving ash as potash fertilizer, and fuel for boilers. Others are transported to the plantations for use as fertilizers in mulching near the palms.

The total oil loss absorbed on the stalks depends on the sterilizing conditions and partly on the way the stripper is operated. Prolonged sterilization will increase oil loss in the stalks. Irregular feeding of the stripper may also result in an increase in oil loss in the stalks.

• Stripping operation is done by the beaters welded on all four sides of the revolving heavy square shaft of the stripper.
• It consists of a revolving beater shaft. Due to the action of beater, the entire bunch is thrown up and is allowed to fall again and again on the revolving beaters.
• Palm fruits are separated and fall down through the screen. They are collected by the bottom conveyor and taken out from the outlet.
• The stripper is capable of stripping off sterilized fruits as well as non-sterilized fruits effectively.
  Stripping capacity is 2 tons per day.
