Precautions to note when planting Prema red onion seeds

• Water if the weather is dry and occasionally apply general liquid fertilizer. A light application of potash in June will help to ripen the bulbs and make them ready for storage.
• Stop watering and feeding once the onions have swollen in mid-summer.
• Weed regularly, as onions don’t grow well when competing with other plants. Ensure you handle it with care when doing this so as not to damage the bulbs if using a hoe. You can weed by hand preferably.
• Remove any flower stems as soon as they start to form.
