The PVC Feeding trough is indicated for feeding caged birds/layers. They are well suited for birds in battery cages and are best attached using joiners or hooks. These joiners are attached to the cage to firmly hold the troughs

In both intensive and semi-intensive systems, laying hens need constant access to food and water, and feeders should be distributed evenly.

Feeders

A good feeder should be:

• durable enough to withstand frequent cleaning;
• stable enough not to be knocked over;
• of the correct height and depth;
• bird proof (such that birds cannot get into it or roost in it); and
• equipped with a lip to prevent birds from spooning feed out onto the floor with their beaks.

The height of the feed inside the feeder, which should never be more than one-third full, should be level with the back of the birds, to prevent them from scratching contaminated litter into the feeders and to limit feed wastage.

Maintain the PVC Feeding Trough

To maintain feed and water intake, water troughs and feed bunks must be cleaned routinely. At least weekly, water troughs should be dumped or drained and scrubbed with a disinfectant, preferably a weak chlorinated solution, such as household bleach with 1 cup bleach to 5 gallons of water solution. Preferably, After disposal of the feed, remove all parts of the feeding equipment that can be detached and put them into tanks filled with a detergent solution to soften the attached dirt. After an adequate time (24 hours is advised), clean them thoroughly with sponges and brushes and let them dry. This keeps the birds protected from diseases and germs manifestation.
